What is inside the DNA of a futurist? How many of us who think of ourselves as one should consider how well we succeed on the following:

  • Visionary - Having foresight and imagination to develop new ideas or anticipate future needs. Someone who is visionary has a clear vision for the future of something.

  • Innovative - Introducing new ideas, technologies, or ways of doing things. An innovative person comes up with creative solutions to problems or needs.

  • Proactive - Taking initiative and action to create change instead of just reacting to it. A proactive person anticipates future problems and acts ahead of time.

  • Progressive - Supporting social, political, or technological progress. A progressive person favors innovation and reform over maintaining tradition.

  • Strategic - Carefully planning out goals and tactics to achieve long-term aims. A strategic thinker can foresee challenges and opportunities.

  • Enterprising - Energetic, ambitious, and willing to take risks on new ventures or ideas. An enterprising spirit drives exploration and progress.

  • Forward-looking - Oriented toward the future, anticipating new trends and developments. Forward-looking people stay ahead of the curve.

  • Insightful - Having a deep understanding and perceptive judgment. An insightful person has vision and foresight about future implications.

  • Open-minded - Willing to consider new perspectives, ideas, and change. An open-minded thinker embraces innovation.
