Honey vs. Sting

We often find ourselves in exchanges where we have been wronged, or done wrong, and our first reaction can be anger or defensiveness. The proverb “you catch more flies with honey than vinegar” always comes to mind, and it always works, although my preferred adaptation is “you get a better response with honey vs. a sting”. A positive, generous or humble response always produces a better outcome. What would we avoid if the world lived this way?
